ELECTORAL CENSUS
PROCEEDING SLOWLY.
The results of the work of the electoral census enumerators will not be apparent for a few- days. Some difficulty lias been experienced in obtaining the returns from the hotels. Lodgers, apparently, have'not i clear idea of what is required of them, and arc not aware that' (hero is the power of compulsion behind tho request for' them to iiil up the census paper. The census paper and the enrolment form aro quite distinct. The former merely obtains from the individual the details which state whether or not ho is entitled to a vote. If ho desires to exercise the privilege of his citizenship and bo enrolled as a voter, ho must sign another paper. In tho case of private houses the enumerators are not experiencing any difficulty. The wet weather has somewhat impeded the collection of the papers.
