WELLINGTON COMPETITIONS.

A BIG PRIZE LIST. Wellington" will' witness a big gala in -October when the first competitions— musical, elocutionary, and literary—are to be held under the aegis of the New Zealand. Competitions' Society. • Though this • society only-' came into existence a few weeks ago, so energetic have the efforts of the committee been, and so prompt the response on the part of the public that the Wellington competitions will start with the biggest special prize list of anv competitions of the kind in Australasia, not even, excepting Balhrat, where the l'rand National Eisteddfod of Australasia is held. . The secretary (Mr. James Dykes) is receiving applications for copies pi the syllabus from all parts of New. Zealand, and the indications are that Wellington windowing to its-central geographical position easily attract a greater number of entries than any competition yet held, in New Zealand. The secretary is now prepared to receive the names i any r?.L• ose who "' isllto b.come members. 1 his i privilege may be secured on payment of fA Is., which will entitle tho member to tickets for each entertainment given during the competitions and to the competitions also. As the competitions will occupy ten days and evenings the concession (m becoming a member) will be a big one, and those who wish to take this advantage should do so before the list closes.
