NO-LICENSE MEETINGS.
MOTION RE COOK ISLANDS. A very successful No-Liccnse meeting was held at Brooklyn le st ovcning, Dr. Couzens (chairman of tho 'ocal executive) presiding. 'Die Rev. A. 'minders delivered a mosliintcrcstingaiu instructive address, dealing particularly ivith tho educational and economic a beets of tha liquor trade. Mr. Saundo s is, a recent arrival from England, is a'.very convincing speaker, and is also regarded as a docidod acquisition to the forces of tho NoLiccnse party. Regarding recent, disclosures at tho Conk Islands, Ihc following resolution (moved by Dr. Couzens and supported by tho Rev. Mr. Saunders and Mr. A. Checseman) was carried unanimously "That this meeting views with dismay the growing influence of tho liquor business in (lie Cook Islands, and calls upon the Acting-Prime Mill- ' istor (Sir .lames Carroll) to rigorously enforco the law." Quite a pleasant feature of tho evening was the .singing of the Jlrooklyu Gieo Society. A vote of thanks to the Rev. Mr. Saunders and lo (ho chairman, and a like compliment lo tho vocalists concluded a pleasant evening. The monthly rally of the Hutt Valley No-License League was held in St. Augustine's Hall last night. The Rev. J. T. Watt was chairman, and the hall Van packed. An excellent programme waa given, those contributing wing Misses D. and V. Auslow, E. Davis, Master Hill, and Messrs. Houso and W. M'Ewnn. Mr. D. M'Laren, M.l\, was (ho speaker, and ho urged all to combine Tempcranco with. Labour, and make tho rally felt at the next general election.
