The Sheffield Choir 'is to be accorded a public reception in Cliristchurch at 3 p.m. oa Monday next. Pictures of 'Now Zealand scenery will bo screened for (he edification of. the' visitors. The latter arrangement is judged to be a delicatelyadjusted compensation for the choir's fading chances of seeing much actual scenery during its headlong rush, through the Dominion. At the pace this great singing machino is being driven—judging by the Wellington programme—it is a wonder that the members .are able to get their breath, let alone sing.

The Primate of New Zealand (Dr. Nevill, Bishop of Dunedin), replying to a question which was addressed io biiu.by" our London correspondent regarding 'thV suggestion that New Zealand would shortly have an arehbishopi'ic of tho Cliurcli of England, says tile question appears to be very little understood in England. "As a matter of fact," ho says, "tho position of Primate is superior to that of an archbishop, as, for example, in Australia, there are several archbishops, but. only one Primate, and in New Zealand the Primacy includes the archiepiscopal position. Should the needs of tho Churcli require it, there might be t'wo archbishops in New Zealand—say, one for the North and tho other for the South Island—but this will not bo until bishop rics are much increased."
