.• THE XEWTOWX CLUB. The eighteenth annual meeting of tho Newtown Bowling Club was held on Wednusdiiy evening. Mr. G. E. Prince, presided. 'i'ho annual report and balance-sheet (previously published) was adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President. Mr. T. Bland; vice-president, Mr. 0. Scott; directors, Messrs. T. S.-Powell, W. Arm!,tron", .1. Sexton, S. 11. Underwood, and 1 , . C. Watt; secretary, Mr. H. .(. Earnes; treisurer, Mr. J. W. Salmon; auditors, .Mewrs. T. M'Loy and W. Chegwidden; delegate to Northern Bowling Association, Mr. G. Scott; delegates to Wellington Uowling Centre,' Messrs. W. Armstrong and J.. Pollock.
Mention wns made-of tho illness of Mr. .1. M'Lean, lost year's president, and it was decided, on the motion of Mr. J. Tiwor, that a vote of sympathy lie tendered to him. '. ■ ■ A letter was received frniu the.secretary of the Wellington Howling Centre, suggesting the .discontinuance of the "Senior and Junior. .Pennants,", and substituting instead an "A" and "B" grade pennants. The letter went on to state that it would be optional for a club to enter (or either ."A" or "E." or for both. Players playing for "A" could not play for-the ','B,'.' but' a "B"' player could be -transferred to the "A's." It was considered that the suggestion would give new cinbs more in- I terpft in these contests.' ■ After considerable discussion, it was reolv;:d to leave the matter in the hands of the incoming directors. • The following prizes won (hiring the veav were presented to the winners by Mr. G. K. Prince:—Club pairs, Messrs. J. Brnckenndxe and S. Phillips; L'mlerwood Memorial Cup. Mr. .1. Brackenridye: ■Colt's trophy, Air. A. E. Sniers; Veterans' trophy, Mr. T. S. Powell; Kaster pairs competition, Messrs S. Phillips and G. Haish. Mr. T. Bland, tho incoming president, presented the champion singles trophies to the winner, Mr. G. E. Prince. Mr. J. J. Roberts wroio tendering his resignation as a member of the club. He is leaving to take up the .position of secretary ■to the Northern Bowling Association. ■ A hearty'vote of thanks was accorded the retiring directors. ■ . - ■ • j KAITOKI CLUB. .Owing to.the absence of the president, Mr. .1. G. Kni'iK , , in Kngland,-the vicepresidenl,'Mr. W. F. Newcombe, took the chair at the annual meeting of ' the Karori Bowling Club. The ■ amiital report and balance-sheet were adopted. A synopsis of each has already been publisher!.: ■ It was' resolved, "That tho secretary write U> Mr.?. \V...1. Williams expressing the club's sorrow at their late member's death and sympathy with Mrs. Williams and iamily in 'timir - ineparable los*." This was "carried .unanimously, , , members standing. A letter from Mr. C. H. Williams was received, stating that as his father had always taken a keen interest in the welfare pf-tho.cluh he. wished the club to accept his father's Ixiwls, to be placed, in a position- of easy,access in the .pavilion for either members or visitors to iiso when necessary. A vote of thanks was passed (o Mr. S. Shortt, who for six years lias been treasurer, and who did iut seek re-clcclum, for his long untiring efforts in the club = interests. Thanks were also extended to the retiring officers, and also to Mr. and Mr.-:. Crawford.
Mr. Gothic's motion to limit the number of niitsiilo games was carried. Mr. Shower was proposed as a new member. A letter from the Wellington Bowling Centre was referred to the committee to act upon, when more definite information Has available. ■ The election of officers resulled as fol!\ws:—Prescient, Mr.. \V.
