;i v '•••.!ijTHE-PETONE CLUB. The fifteenth annual general meeting of tho Petone Bowling Club was held last evening. The attendance was largo, and Mr. W. Henry occupied, the chair. follbwing'report and balance-sheet was adopted :-*'Thc year ending May 31, 1911, has been prosperous. Friendly matches were played with all city and suburban clubs, and these have been the means of improving tho play of- members. The club was represented by two rinks in the Wellington Centre's tourney, and by two in the Northern Bowlin'' Association's tourney. Great interest was centred in the three matches for the president's cup. Petone secured two wins, and have now won the cup three years in succession. The winners m the .various club matches are as follow:Champion Pairs, Renai and Hay (5.),1; Curtis and Wearne (s.). 2. Cham plo n Singles: W. 'Wearne, 1; F. C. Walton, 2. Handicap Pairs: Ryder and Hay (s.), 1; Gavnor and Smith (s.), 2. Junior Singles: H." Brookes. Tho delegate was instructed"to support tho proposal at the annual meeting of the Wellington Centre. .'"'•' I Tho following recommendations were received- by tho_ committee and carried: ,(1) 'Championship pairs and singles and ■handncap pairs' and singles, one to be finished before another commences; (2) champion singles to be played in sections. ■ Mr. Palmer was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for donating a merit board. It was resolved that the annual gathering take the form of a euchre party and dance, and it wasalso decided to hold euchre parties during tho Tecess. The D.I.C. will bo closed all day tomorrow. Councillor Barber has given notice that he will move, at tho next meeting of tho City Council: "That the Finance Committee bo instructed to take into consideration the question of dealing in some way with tho properties, owned by the city, fronting Adelaide lioad, with the object of improving the locality."
