AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
-4MEETING Cl' DOMINION COUNCIL. A special meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held last evening. Mr. G'liaffe.v mis in the chair, and there wore also present Messrs. Ross, Icvvey, Thompson, L.irkin. Daiis, Cusack, CVouch. Ora.ti, and Bridge. The secretary of the Auckland Association forwarded an application from M. Ryan, of Hamilton, asking for a reinstatement as an amatuir. Ryan, (it wns slated) had only competed in a few professional events, and his reason for asking for reinstatement was that lie preferred aniatc-ur sport to professional. • A motion in favour of granting the application was negatived, but it was decided to writo to the Auckland Centre for further particulars, and to again consider the matter at next meeting. G. B. Mann and L. Ryan (also of Hamilton) were granted reinstatements.
