IBv GLEXCOE.] The Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's meeting takes place to-morrow aud Thursday. Weights for the first day's events at tho Wellington Eacing Club's meeting will be declared on Monday next. Mr. J. Whitworth's two-year-old colt Fuguo (Sir Jjaddn—Orchestra) ran third in a race at Warwick Farm, Sydney, last Saturday week. The New Zealand-bred Masonic (Kilclieran—Purity) has been sold in Melbourne, and is to go to India. W. Porter, an Auckland jockey now in Melbourne, rmlo tho winner o£ the j Maiden Steeplechase at Williamstown on June 10. Tho stable occupied by J. Cameron at Fcikling is growing strong in jumpers. Tho latest addition to it is Lanark, who, when racing at Otaki, showed a lot of pace for a mile. The gelding has been purchased by Mr. W. G. Shannon, owner of Maidi. The Sydney jockey, M'l.achlan, rodo his first winner in England last Friday week. The Taranaki-owned pair, Soultiform and Silver Bullet, in charge of T. Wilson, were shipped from Auckland to Sydney yesterday. Tho horses are destined for suburban racing in Melbourne. Leolanler and Kosegrove, both of whom have been jumping exceptionally well at Awapuni, wero railed to Hastings yesterday morning. Jjionheart, who has an engagement in tho Hack Steeplechase, also made the trip. He will bo ridden by his trainer, 0. O'Neill, and the latter will also have tho mount on Leolanter if lio can do the weight. The Awapuni trainer, A. Watson, railed Passive and Don Carlos io Hastings yesterday. The black marc has an engagement in the Tlawkc's Bay Hurdles, but Don Carlos will not be seen out until the week following. Mr. D. Buick's only representative at Hastings will be Gold Battery, whom A. Neale has looking in first-rate condition. Tho blue jacket and pink cap will be worn by A. Oliver. Tho local horsemen, W. Eyan and E. Murtagh, wero passengers for Hastings by the Napier express yesterday. Both riders are iully engaged at the meeting. The Advance gelding, The Eover, winner cf the Masterton and Woodvillc Cups, is engaged in the Hack Hurdles at Hastings to-morrow. Ho has been schooling at Faxton along with Waitoto, but has been no match for the last-named, who is being reserved for Napier Park next wrck.

The wintry weather experienced at Trentham lately has necessitated (ho closing of all tracks except the newlyformed sand track. This track is rather on tho heavy side as yet, hut trainers aro very pleased to have it even in its present state. All going well in the meantime, Delegate will ho brought south to race at somo of tho southern meetings. Provocation, who has bst'U of? the scene since spring, figures nmcing the nominations for tho Wellington Racing Club's winter meeting. Admiral Soult is again in work at EUcrslie under tho care of D. Moraghan. Tho crack Auckland jockey, A. Whittaker, went through to Hastings yesterday, and will be riding at the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's winter meeting tomorrow. Mr.'' W. Montgomery, the well-known Auckland sportsman, has received word tjiat.his rising:tw.Oryear-old colt, by Birkenhead, which is under F. M'Grath's chargo at Raudwick, was hurt: recently in endeavouring to get through a gate, but tho injuries are not considered likely to permanently affect tho colt.
