The local Labour Office intimates that misconception has been removed, with the result that all trades and industries will now observe Thursday, and will take part in the celebrations. The Labour Department has no idea of prosecuting if a breach of award happens through non-observance of Friday's holiday by certain trades.

ADDINGTON-THE MEN WIN. Christchurch, Juno 18. Tho new system of paying the men employed at the Railway Workshops at Addington was brought into operation last Friday, and gave general satisfaction. The incii signed tho pay-sheet as the money was counted, and it is claimed ■that this system worke I more expeditiously thtn the system previously in vogue. THE WAIHI TROUBLE. Waihi, Juno 17. The conference between the mineowuers and tho New Zealand Federation of Labour representatives in reference to the mining dispute commenced yesterday afternoon, and was continued today. Nothing is known as to the proceedings, as the conference is being held privately. A special meeting of the union is called for Monday evening to consider the delegates' report.
A TEN DAYS' LIBEL CASE. Auckland, June 17. In the libel action, .Masson v. Richardson, iu which the jury awarded ,£SOO damages, Mr. Justice Edwards this morning awarded plaintiff costs on the highest scale. The hearing of the action extended over ten days, about fifty witnesses being subpoenaed by both sides. Exclusive of damages awarded, it' is estimated the caso will absorb about ,£IOOO. "DISTRICT NURSE SATURDAY." Wanganui, June 18. . "District Nurse Saturday" resulted in the'collection of .£370. This easily beats last year's record, which was just under .£3OO. The league now has two nurses employed.

A small amount of Velvet changed hands at 3s. 3d. net at country stations, ajid 3s. s>d. ex store. For fowl wheat, 3s. 4Jd. and ,3s. 5d., f.0.b., have been given. A sale of oatensheaf was effected at £3 15s. net on trucks, sacks extra. A little more business has Dcen dono in potatoes, the prices paid being from £3 2s. 6d. to £3 ss. net on trucks, and from £3 ss. to £3 10s.' net delivered in Oamaru.'
