COAL SUPPLY.
ADMIRALTY AND FEDERATION,
It is stated that the executive officers of tho New Zealand Miners' Federation, now sitting in a hastily-convened conference at 'Wellington, whatever ma}- be tho ostensible reason of their gathering, have been actually engaged in considering a highlyimportant proposal emanating from tho British Admiralty, It is understood that representatives of the Admiralty have asked tho Miners' Federation to enter into an undertaking that none of its affiliated bodies will strike or otherwiso itnpedo the working of coal mines or the output of their product > in tiino of war. Tho answer of the Miners' Federation Executive to these representations is not yet available.
