A CLAIM FEOM MANCHESTER. (By 'Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Masterton, June 11.. At a meeting of tho Masterton A. and ?. Association yesterday, a . letter from Mr. .lames S. M'Conechy. 'the superintendent of the Manchester ship canal) to Mr. W. D. Lysnar was read. Mr. M'Conechy asked that the claims of Manchester as a distributing .centre for New Zealand frozen meat, would Ik> considered. He asserted that Manchester was tho cheapest port in England.
At the meeting of,the Masterton A. and P. Association on Saturday last, it was stated that forty head of fat cattlo had already been entered for the fat stock sale on Wednesday. A large number of fat sheep were entered in the room. The number of fat cattlo proposed, for each sale is. forty-eight, and of sheep 300. The Masterton A. and I'. Association on Saturday rescinded its resolution to accept the resignation of Mr. G. E. Sykes (who is contesting tho Masterton Parliamentary seat) as secretary, and granted him six months' leave of absence.
