Wilfon. president of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, suggesting that steps ho taken in the direction of forming classes for learners in shearing ill connection with technical schools. Mr..11. ■ Morrison slated that Mr. H. A. Nevins had expressed a wish to'address the association on the subject. He suggested that the matter be deferred until next meeting, and that Mr. Nevins be invited to be present.—This was agreed to. METROPOLITAN SHOW. A letter was read from the Manawatu A. and I'. Association, conveying the following resolution: ."That fho following associations, Tiz.,/Feirding, Levin, Moodville. Dannevirke, Pahiatua, Masterton, Hawke's Bay, M'anganui, Ha vera and Waipukurau, bo invited to appoint delegates to attend a conference, together with the Manawatu and West Ccast.A. and I\ As-. Fociation, for tlio purpose-of informally discussing a scheme of" representation for the several bodies upon tlio Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association's committee; the idea being.to formulate the constitution of a metropolitan show; the meeting to bo held in Palmerston on Wednesday, Juno 21. Mr.' J.. Strang, thought; that this'association should be represented, at the proposed conference. The movement was iu a direction of holding an exhibition such as he had' indicated some time" back. Ha had thought the show, should have been held in the Wairarapa, but he had now come 'to the conclusion that Palmerston would he the more, cc itral;' *'• , The president suggested that the matter be discussed by this association. He' did not t quite'understand .from the cir-. cnlar what the intention was. Mr. Strang said he understood that the idea was to hold a "Royal" show. Mr? Moodie : Why not support, the pro-, jeel oil condition that .the' Metropolitan Show is held in the'Warrarapa? ■Mr. Perry stated that in England the Royal shows were peripatetic. A 'certain sum of money had to lie guaranteed.. 'Eventually Messrs. AV. .Perry and D. M'Gregor, junr., were appointed delegates to attend tlio conference. A letter was read from the secretary of the Education Board, thanking the committee for the encouragement given at its'recent'sliow to school exhibits. The secretary stated that the amount given in prizes wa.s .£ll. Thcpresident said that, witji the Government "subsidy, the amount of .422 would available. Tho communication was received. The Canterbury Metropolitan Association notified that its next show would be held on November 8, 9, and 10. The .North Otago Association advised that' its 'annual- show 'would be held oil November lfs 'and 17. ~ The Ground Committee reported having met in-the-morning, and decided that the question of alterations to the seats'in the grandstand at Solway be deferred until the October meeting. It was reported that a very successful tree-planting bee had been held at Solway, at which about 600 native shrubs had been planted.—A 'hearty vote of thanks was passed to the superintendents (Dr. Archer Hosking and Mr. E. Hale) for the valuable assistance they had rendered.— I The report was adoptfed. The Finance Committee's report was read. The debit balanco on May 31 was ported to be .55976 7s. Bd.; expenditure for the nionth, : £% 12s. 10(1.; receipts, .£ll7 -Is. Gd.; debit balanco at date, .£5055 ■IBs. " Mr. ,T. B. Moodie, chairman of the committee, stated that the committco had gone carefully into the outstanding accounts, and were of opinion that the amounts outstanding Would be very small at the end of the financial year. On t!i2 motion of Mr. G.' C. Summerell, seconded by Mr. 1). Caselberg, it was decided that the annual meeting be held .-.t 2 n.ni. on July 20.
