The manager of the Stato brickworks states that he hopes to he able to bring the price of bricks down to 17s. 6d. a thousand. The present price at the kilns is 38s. Tho Minister for Works (Mr. Griffith) proposes to establish a thoroughly equipped Government building yard. Finding it difficult to secure a suitable manager at the salary ollerod (.£IOOO per annum), he approached a number of leading builders, who stated that they were making .C3OOO to .£4OOO a year.
