LORRY OVERTURNED.
TWO MEN THROWN UNDER HOUSES.' A "married man, named Robert "White];nv, residing at So. 1 Ellice Avenue, and cnjiiloycd by tlw City Corporation, received rather 'severe injuries as the. result of an accident o:i Saturday morning. A corporation lorry, driven by Ueo. James Quinlivan, was conveying a small wooden house (used as an ohice) from Island Bay lo (he Clyde Quay yards, and when passing the corner of JJuckle htrcet and Cambridge Terrace it capsized through the roof catching against a taut wire attached to u street polo, which required to be stayed. Two men were insido the house and two more were riding on the shafts of the lorry, when the whole concern overturned, and all the men were flung forward among tho horses, Sergeant M'Crorie, of the Mount Cook police, was Mimmond to the scene, and when he arrived he found that Quinlivan, th* driver, was wedged between tho two shaft horses, and AYhitolaw was on his back unconscious beneath a horse. The sergeant, with the assistance of a couple of constables and some bystanders, extricated the men from their dangerous positions, and Br. Cameron, who happened to be passing, rendered medical aid and ordered both men to tho hospital. Whitelaw had his face cut, his ribs bruised, and was generally shaken about and bruised. At a late hour Inst night ho. was progressing very satisfactorily. Quiulivan had his hands cut and was severely shaken, but did not have to remain in tho hospital. According to his statement to the police, the house appeared tn have been safely fixed on the lorry and in coming round the corner, Qninlivan did not notice tho wire that was responsible for the accident.
