BANKRUPTCY.

J. K. G. Stansell, an cx-hotelkeeper of Wellington, was yesterday adjudged bankrupt on liis own petition. The fust meeting of creditors will bo held on June 15.

The first meeting of creditors, in the estate of E. \V. Allen, cx-hotolkeoner, which was to have bfcu held yesterday morning, lapsed on account of there not being a quorum. The Official Assignee states that none of the papers in connection with (he estate have yet como to band. •

A meeting of the Wellington Philosophical Society will bo held in the Museum Buildings. Particulars appear in this issue.

A sale of work will he held in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church to-day and tonioiTON". During the sale a number of interesting competitions will be held.
