THE OTAKI RACES.
There is every indication that the Otata Maori Racing Club's Winter meeting, which opens to-day on the new course near the railway station, will be a complete success from a sporting point of viow, besides providing an enjoyable day s outing for city and country lovers of horseracing. No pains have been spared by the officials to make tho arrangements as complete as possible, and to ensure the comfort and convenience of the public, and the new course is well up to expectations/both from the picturesque and the practical point of view. The- handicapper (Mr. Pollock), judged by the excellent acceptances, has given general satisfaction, and large fields will probably face the starter. Some keen finishes may bo looked for, and the spectators can rely upon an interesting day's racing. Special trains will run from Thorndou Station to the meeting at 7.10 and 8.20 a.m.
