At: a special niceling of the Borough Council on Friday night, Hie Mayor and Councillors Haydon and Benlo wero appointed a snb-commiUce to make arrangements to celebrate Coronation Day. It is proposed to have a parade of tho territorials, headed by the Bras? Band, and speeches from prominent citizens. The question. of remodelling a portion of Ihe Square was held over to enable the Works Committee to meet the curator 011 the ground. Tho Mayor and Councillors Armstrong and Mowlem were reappointed the council's representatives on the Fire Board. In connection with the compulsory military training movement, the registrations up to date in the Palmerston district are as follow:—Palmerston 391!, Foxton G7, Tokomaru 21, Koputarca 16, Shannon 36, Oliau 24, Manakau 25, Otaki 49, Levin 85, Himitangi 6, Bunnythorpo 27, Linton 8, AVaikanae 16, Longburn 7, Tiakitahuna 13, Te Horo 8; total. The committee of the. local Horticultural Society met on Friday night, whan a statement, of accounts showed that there was a small crodit balance on the last show.
