A MARVELLOUS FLIGHT. 737 MILES IN 738 MINUTES. By Telezraph—Press Association-CoDyrleht ,(Rec. May 28, 5.5 p.m.) 1 Paris, May 27. M. Vedrine has won the aeroplane race from Paris to Madrid in marvellous time. The race was flown in three sections, the first from Paris to Angoulmene, ths second from Angoulmene to the seaport of San Sebastian, just over' the frontier, and the third over the Pyrenees and tho Guadarrama ranges to tho Spanish capital. M. Vedrine eovered tho three stages, 737 miles in all, in 738 minutes' actual flying time. The latest' flight from San Sebastian was very arduous, the 'airman ending in a half-stupefied condition. ■ M. Tetlrine crossed the Sierra de Guadarrama by the Pass of Somosierra. (1690 ft.), flying at this stage at an elevation of 6600 ft. During his flight across the mountains an eagle, attacked M. Vedrine, who escaped by descending and then rising suddenly.
