In connection with the Coronation, arrangements have been made for the lighting-of 2500 bonfires on high points in Britain.
At a meeting of members ot Parliament and others interested in tho movement on March 21, a Central Committee was formed to enlist tho sympathies of the counties and boroughs of Great Britain an;l Ireland and rtto colonies in a bonfire scheme in honour of tho Coronation.
The conimitleo rcconnneiided that in England, Ireland, and Wales ;i detonating rocket should be sent from any principal height at 9.55 to eall attention; , that at 10 o'clock n magnesium star roskot and other rockets should be fired, the bonfires be lighted, and (ho National -Anthem sung. Where possible tho hills should bo specially illuminated a', the same- time with red, white and blue-eol-oured fires, in tins of Sib. each for all the -movo i important heights.",.For'"Scotland similar arrangements at 10.25 to 10.30 were proposed. It was hoped that at 11 o'clock, "when all bonfires would bo nlifjht, a bouquet of rockets would be sent up and the National Anthem be again snug. Koekets would probably bo tent up at intervals Hll 11 o'clock.
