CITY LIGHTING.
SEPARATE COMMITTEE URGED. The municipal lighting undertaking has grown to such dimensions in the city that Councillor J. E. Fitzgerald has given notice of his intention to move at Thursday evening's meeting of- the City Council: "That a committee of fivo members be formed as an Electric Lighting Committee to deal with all matters pertaining to. the electric lighting department." The suggestion is that the lighting l work lias grown to such an extent that it demands a separate committee. At tho present time, the work is carried out partly by the liy-laws and Lighting Committee, and partly by the Tramways Committee. Tho chief object of the separate committee is to concentrate the business and to make it what it is claimed it should be, an active competitor of the Gas Company.
