NEW VANCOUVER SERVICE.
9 — EFFECT ON 'FRISCO BOATS. The new mail, service between New Zealand and Vancouver, via Fiji and Honolulu, is to bt- inaugurated' oil July i, on which date the first steamer is time-tabled to sail from Auckland. The mail for America and England by that steamer will leave Wellington a day earlier, connecting by means of iho Main. Trunk express. Some are wondering if the inauguration of the New Vancouver service will mean the death of tho present San Francisco service, and they express tho liopo that such will not be tho case. Tlicy express tho view that New Zealand lieeas a fortnightly service across the Pacific, and one direct from tho United States. Inquiry was made yesterday as to bow the present San Francisco service would stand in view of the approaching inauguration of (lie Vancouver connection. It was stated by a responsible official that so far there was 110 intention of terminating tho present service with America. What would probably happen, however, in July was that I lie boats from San Francisco would arrive and depart from Wellington (instead of sailing from Auckland), and of couiso the Vancouver j steamers would not touch at Wellington. j
