THE HON. T. MACKENZIE.
A VISIT TO TARANART. (By Telegraph-Press Association.) Hawera, April 20. On Saturday morning the Hon. T. Mackenzie, laid the foundation stone of the new Kaupokonui Chesse Factory, which is being erected in coucroto to replace the wooden structure recently destroyed by fire. Mr. Greville, editor of the "New Zealand Dairyman," said the factory would be Hie best in the world, and the most up to date, brennse it was the first to be built that would take advantage of the great discovery of Dr. Babcock—that cheese curing was due to chemical changes, and was not the result of bacterial action. H° added that" it was a golden letter-day in the history of cheese-making. The ceremony was performed in the presence of a large crowd of people, including ninny directors from factories in surrounding districts. Mr Mackenzie was afterwards entertained at luncheon at the.Manaia Hotr], In the afternoon the Minister laid the foundation stone of a new post office at Jlanaia. which is lx-im; creeled at a of ,£3OOO. He also received a deputation from the Wai mate West County Council on local matters, and in the evening he addressed a very large gathering in the Town Hall on the farming industry.
