SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

TERRACE END, PALMERSTON.

There was a fair attendance of householders at the Terrace End School on Monday evening. The annual report of the committee stated that the number on the roll at the beginning of the rear was 394, while tho, present number is 437. Quite a number of pupils were successful in obtaining free places at the High School. The committeo had been successful in getting an enlargement of tho school building, but this must be only considered of a temporary nature. There had been a number of changes in the staff during the year, but the thanks' of parents wero duo to the headmaster and assistant teachers for the progress mado by the pupils at the school. The annual picnic was held during tho year at Tlimmerton, and was a decided success, being well attended, the pupils having a most enjoyable time. The Cohen Honours Shield was won by Doris Wilson. The balance-sheet stood as.follows:— Receipts: Balance in bank on March ■31, 1910,- £14 os. 10d.; receipts from Education Board, £62 3s: 6d.; voluntary contributions, 10s.; total, £75 14s. 4d. Expenditure: Cleaning out school, £36; fuel, £3 195.; repairs to buildings, etc., £5 9s. 2d.; books, maps, etc., £16 13s. lid.; expenditure of special grant from board, £6 4s. fid.; bank charges, 10s.j gas, £2 Bs. 2d.; stationery and sundries', 95.; total, £71 13s. 9d. This left a credit balance of £4 os. 7d.

" A vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Robbie, who has served for tlio past 12 years on the School Committee, and during that time rendered valuable services for the welfare of the- school. Tho following wore elected as committee for tho ensuing year:—Messrs. J. A. Nash, H. H. Griggs, W. H. Lewis, J. Trcgurtha. E. J. Anstis, R. Gardner, C. J. Erenstrom, A. J. Yortt, J .N. Clapham. . Special votes of thanks were passed to tho seoretary, treasurer, and chairman for the excellent way in which they carried out their various offices during the past year. A similar voto of thanks was passed to the headmaster and staff. After the householders' meeting tho new committee met. Mr. J. A. Nash was reelected chairman, Mr. Erenstrom secretary,, and Mr. Lewis treasurer.
