AMERICAN DUCHESSES.
POSITION AT CORONATION. King George and Queen Mary will publicly declare their attitude toward tho American wives of English nobility when the four duchesses are chosen to hold tho canopy over tho Queen at the Coronation. No official word has been issued, but unleso ono of tho three American duchesses is announced, it will bo,patent that the late King's fondness ior foreign wives of dukes is riot inherited, by the present monarch. When Edward and Alexandra were crowned tho Duchess of Marlborouch was one of the ducal quartet, but there is but slight chance that tho former C'onsuelo Vanderbilt will again bo lion l cured. Since tho last Coronation this duchess has rid herself of her husband, which alters her position slightly. Tho Duchess of Roxbu'rgho is now at Floors Castle, Scotland. Even if she does not assist with the canopy, she will command attention by the decoration which she will wear with" her robes.
