PROMOTION OF TEACHERS.
RESOLUTION FOR SCHOOL COM- ■ . MITTEES. ;As part of its campaign in favour of a'national scheme of promotion for teachers, the Now Zealand Educational Institute has arranged for the tabling of .the 'following resolution at the annual meetings of householders on Monday next: — "That this meeting of householders considers that in the interests of education a.Dominion scheme for the promo-' tion of teachers is. urgently required, and that' this resolution bo forwarded to the Minister for Education." Tho basis of classification, suggested by the institute for the promotion of teachers is a system of marks —20 per cent for '•'.length' of service," 60 per cent for "ef/ficiency and personality," and, 20 per '.cent for "educational attainments."
