POLLING DAY: WHAT TO REMEMBER.

USEFUL HINTS FOR CITIZENS. The city returning officer (Mr. Jaa, Ames) states that tlie arrangements made for the polling en Wednesday uexfc are- sufficient to record the 28,071) vote* on the roll. Electors should have no difficulty, .Mr. Ames adds, if they will observe and assist iu carrying out tlia following suggestions:— 1. The electors should, before going to the poll, ina.'.e up their minds wnoin they are going to vote for, and not wait until they gcL to tlie booth. This will save a lot of time, and will permit of tho ballot-paper* being dealt with quickly. 2. It would save time if electors would givo tho Returning Officer thcil lull names and situation (without being asked tho several questions) as soon as they enter tho booth. It would also assist very much if voters could givo the number opposite their name, on tho roll. 3. It would be well if the women would ' kindly record their votes during tlia morning or afternoon; it would allow the men more time when leaving work. At the last election hundreds of women wore flocking to the booths at 5 and 8 o'clock. Tho result was a block at tlie several booths. '4. .There will bo three ballot-papers— white for city councillors, blue for members of tho Harbour Board,- and yellow for tho weekly half-holiday. Not more than fifteen X's for city councillors, four for members of Harbour Board, and one for the weekly half-holiday. At tho sametime a voter may vote for loss than the number of candidates required in each case. It is not necessary to strike out tho names of those not voted for—it takes timo and • serves no purpose. The Town Hall will be tho principal polling place. There will be more conveniences for voting than at tho smaller booths, and tho electors aro requested to record /there, if convenient.
