BILLIARDS.
&MATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP, By Maekeh. The final match of 3000 points up, between Mr. H. Virr, the English champion, and Major Fleming, the Scotch champion for the amateur championship of tho United Kingdom, has commenced at tho Antient Concert Rooms, Dublin, and, at tho end of the fifth session, tho interval scores were: Mr. Virr (in play), 1501 points; Major Fleming, 1392 points. Last Tuesday, Lindrum and AVilliams were to commence an exhibition game of 14.000 up, level, at Heiron and Smith's billiard parlours, Sydney, with bonzolino balls. Last year the same pair played three games level, with Lindrum a victor in all. Williams, at that time, had just arrived from England, and was in indifferent health. Now he should be thoroughly acclimatised, and in a position to show his true qualities as a billiardist. In the seventeenth heat of the London tournament, Stevenson conceded Reece 2230 points start, in 9000 up. So well did Stevenson perform that there is now every indication that he has returned to quite his best. He finally won with 11-18 points to spare. T Recce, under the management of Mr. Reid ("Cannon,", of the, "Sporting Life") is about to mako an extended tour of tho colonies. lnman's arrangements for a South African tour aro now completed. He will probably spend about threo months in that country: Stevenson may also go to South Africa. J. AY. Reid, tho New Zealand cham : pion, leaves on Monday for a tour of the North Island, playing exhibition games in all tho principal towns.
