I LORD ISLINGTON AT MARTON. During an unofficial visit to Marton on AA'cdnesday afternoon, his" Excellency, Lord Islington, after inspecting the Hu'ntly■'School,".made-,tl)o'rJjappy suggestion of joining issue with the boys in a game of cricket. His Excellency's cloven consisted of Captain Shannon, Mr. Donnistoh" (privato secretary), tho Mayor of Marton, four of tho local borough councillors, and two schoolboys. As the Governor's timo was limited, it was agreed that each side sliduld bat for half an hour. Lord Islington and tho Mayor opened tho batting, but the latter, after he had made five, was clean bowled. Mr. Donniston, the next man in, started well, but was soon dismissed for two, and Mr. H. Russell, his successor, only compiled one. Captain Shannon joined his Excellency, who was beginning to brighten up the play, but a well-pitched leg-break accounted for the Governor's wicket when his total had reached 11 —top score for tho side. Captain Shannon was the next to succumb. Ho stepped out to a "googlie," and was smartly stumped! Tho rest of the team were summarily dealt with, and were all out for 37 runs. Tho scliool team had put on 47 runs for six wickets when time was called;
