THE CHURCHES.
The Easter festival services at St.Luke's Anglican Church, Grcytown, were attended by large congregations. The church was bcautilully ami tastetully decorated. At the early morning liuciianst there was a record number ol communicants. The service nt 11 o'clock was conducted by Mr. Mots, of Cartcrton. The service at Evensong was very bright and hearty. St. Luke's has received the iollowing gilts in conncclion with Easter:— A linen press and robe cupboard ior the vestry; a handsome outside notice board, presented by tho Ladies' Guild; a bcautilul glass cruet, presented by Mrs. Uurcli, iuid used foi the lirst time at the Kasttr communion; nnd a very handsome Litany desk as an anonymous lliankolTering. At St. John's Anglican Church, Fcatherstor., the Kaster services were well attended. A large number of wor&hippers received Holy Communion niter morning prayer at 11 o'clock. The children had a special Kaster service nt 2.30, and Mr. .1. G. Cox conducted the evening service. The handsome.sanctuary carpet, presented by Mrs. W. Barton and other trieiids, has improved the appearance of tho ehurcli very much. Mr. Edward Nelson, of (he Interne.tional Bible Students' Association, whe gave a series of discourses on Bible themes two mouths ago, lias returned nflcr a successful tour of the North Island towns, nnd is advertised to give a courso of lectures appropriate for the season in tho Committee Doom, Town Hall, beginning to-night. "The Resurrection," and "Why Does God Permit Evil?" nro included in this scries, and are oxpected to prove i?:crcstiog and helpful i bo thinking Christiana.
