Chrlstchurch, April 1L A dairyman was fined £3 and cost? this morning for selling milk with less thau tlio standard percentage of buttorfat, Mr. IT. W. Bishop, S.M., said that if defendant could not see that the milk was kept up to standard lift had belter get out of the business. Frederick King, charged with failing to register a printing press, and with printing a pamphlet without an imprint, was fined £5 on each charge. Tlip pamphlet invited readers to send Ids. 6<l. for a certain valuable recipe. The magistrate characterised the recipe as simply disgusting, and condemned tho business strongly. In an affiliation ease before the Court this morning the magistrate made an order under Section 73 of tho Destitute Persons Act, 1910, which permits an order to bo made without service of a summons when a defendant is out of tho Dominion or conceals his whereabouts.
TOWN CLERK'S FINE RECORD. New Plymouth, April 11. The Town Clerk, Mr. F. T. Bellringer, was stated at tho Borough' Council meeting to have established a record which must be considered as unique at it is satisfactory. MAN INJURED IN AN AFFRAY. Gisbornc, April 10. James Blanch was seriously injured ii an affray on Saturday night, and lies in the hospital in an unconscious condition. At the Magistrate's Court to-day James Kerr Easlon was remanded until Wednesday on a charge ef assaulting Blanch. BRUTAL AFFAIR. Blenheim, April 10. On Saturday evening an old woman mimed Julia' Grooves, who was livint; alone at Grovctewn, was brutally assaulted.
