THE EXHIBITION.

PROGRESS OF PREPARATIONS. . The progress made with the preparation for the Coronation Exhibition, to be held in Wellington, may bo gathered from the following report of the Exhibition Committee presented to the Industrial Association last evening by the secretary, .Mr. H. F. Allen.. Tho number of applications for spaco laid been most satisfactory; indeed, it had been necessary to alter tho plan considerably, and, finally, to have. a now plan drawn. The Building and Spaco Committee, had found it necessary to reduce the dimensions of the concert hall. The. railway, line running along one side of the "J" building, on which it was intended to exhibit a New Zealand-built- locomotive and a railway ear, and possibly the bodv of a locally-built tramcar, had been marked offfor flooring over, so as to increase the letting space. Half rates would be charged in the galleries :—3d. per square foot, and 6d. per foot frontage. Wall space was being freely applied for, one applicant alone asking for from 600 to 800 feet. Tlie amount of floor space let \was 19.200 square feet, and, including frontago rates, amounts received in cash totalled £870. Gallery s-pace was not taken into account yet. Among the gallery exhibits would be a most "interesting one in a twelve feet running area, by the Now Zealand Government Defence Department. Small arms, dating back before tho time of tho Crimean War, and some used in that war, would be exhibited. Tho forthcoming exhibition would be a larger one than the exhibition which was hold on the Town Hal! site in 1896-7.

It had been decided to charge £10 for selling rights at the exhibition, the charge referring to those who desired to sell small goods and articles. The payment of this fee, which represented £1 per week, was being cheerfully responded to.
