DAIRY COMPANY IN TROUBLE.
PROPOSALS TO ACQUIRE IT. (By Telegraph.-Prcss Association.) Tiniaru, April 8. The Timarit Dairy Company, u small proprietary which somo time ago took over the factory, but not the creamery, of tho South Canterbury Co-operative Company that failed, has also failed, entailing a, loss to suppliers whose milk and cream aro as y-et unpaid for. There have been several lively meetings to consider •what can bo dono in tho matter. Tho Canterbury Company (Christcliurch) offer to buy the cream, while the Taieri nnjl Peninsula Company (Diinerlin) am offering to take over the business if the suppliers ngree. To-day at ono meeting tho suppliers asked for delay in winding up the Timarti Company in tho hope of resuscitating it. At another meeting the Taieri and Peninsula Company's representatives.made certain proposals, and a committee was set up to consider these and report to a future meeting. Strong opposition, hoiv?ver, came from North Otago, this objection being that tho Taieri and Peninjula Company should not bo given a monopoly,
