SWIMMING.
VICTORIA COLLEGE CLUB. At a meeting of members of the Victoria College Amateur Swimming Club held at Gocjber's on Monday, Professor Hunter presiding, the prizes won during the recent carnival were presented. In proposing the toast of "Swimming and Kindred Clubs," Mr. T. U. Ronayne said that in the Beginning the idea of a swimming club at the university was frowned on, but the increase of membership from 26 to over 10 in the past season- proved the success of the venture. Amongst, other toasts proposed were those of "Kindred Sports" (Mr. Nicholls), replied to by Messrs. Short and Dempsey; "Alma Mater" (Mr. Kelly), replied to by Professors von ZedliU and Hunter; "NewStudents," proposed by Mr. West. During the evening items were given by Messrs. Leary, Ronayne, Mackay, Salek, and others. PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATES. The following is an additional list of those who qualified for proficiency certificates at the Thorndon baths during the Season just ended.
