A by-election was held yesterday for the purpose of tilling the vacancy 011 tho Miramar Borough Council, caused bv the recent resignation of Mr. 11. N. JL'l'.eod. I'll'. M'Leod resigned his seat avowedly in order that Miramar electors might bo given an opportunity of expressing (heir views on the proposal to reduce the width of King's Road, one of Hie borough thoroughfares, from 00 to 0(1 feet. At yesterday's by-election, Mr. M'Leod was re-olectcd by an absolute majority of 27 votes. Tho voles recorded in his favour totalled 105. There wore two other candidates, of whom Mr. S.-M. Stone secured 121 voles and Mr. J. M'Cabe 17. Particulars of the sale of the Kainni Tlstate, to bo held nt tho rooms of Mr. 'J'.
