BREACH OF PRIVILEGE ?
EDUCATION BOARD AND, , 7 "THE DOMINION." At the meeting of the Wellington Education Board yesterday, the annual report? of the inspectors, of the Principal of the Training College, and the-board's rpport to tho Minister were laid on the table. It. was agreed to defer consideration of the reports till the next meeting. ] In connection with the inspectors' report, which was published iu The Dominion yesterday morning, Mr. J. G. W. Aitken raised tho question of privilege. Tho inspectors' report appeared, in The Dominion before, being presented to the. board. Was this not a breach of privilege? he asked. Tho chairman (Mr. Lee): Perhaps it was given to them. Tho secretary (Mr. G. L. Stewart) disclaimed any connection with the premature publication of tho report. The chairman: At all events tho Teport had been printed, and was public property. Mr. A. W. Hogg: I admire thi promptitude displayed in giving the publicity to the report. Why should we hold these things back? Why should the board sit on the reports like a hen on a lot of eggs, waiting for them to bo hatched. The reports will be addled if wo don't get at them soon.
