THE CANADIAN RECIPROCITY PROPOSALS. By Telesraph—Press Association—Oopyricht (Eoc. March 2D, 0.10 a.m.) Ottawa, March 28. Mr. Fcilding, Minister of Financo in tho Canadian Government, defending tho reciprocity proposals at Montreal, challenged opponents to the proposals to provo tho assertion that ho ever favoured annexation. Tho allegation was a fabrication, and tho annexation cry was a scandal and a shame. Ho hoped tho. Prince of Wales, when ho visited Canada in tho future, would bo able to testify that elcspito closer trade with tho United States there was no more loyal Dominion.than Canada. Mr. Fcilding added that tho Laurier Government intended to guard tho manufacturers fully. Tho latter wero suro to benefit through tho increased prosperity of the agricultural classes.
