REFORM OF CALENDAR.
AN INTERESTING SCHEME, BOARD OF TRADE ENDORSES IT. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright (Uec. March 28, 10.15 p.m.) Melbourne, March 28. The Federal Government has received a communication from the British Board of Trade endorsing a resolution adopted by tho Associated Chambers of Commerce in favour of the alteration of the calendar. 'J'lie scheme proposes a number of changes:— J. New Year's Day would bo regarded as a dies lion, and not to be counted as belonging to the month or week. 2. The present extra day in Leap Year would be interpolated in the middlo of I each fourth year, and treated as a dies 11011. 3. The remainder of tho year would bo divided into four quarters, each containing two months of thirty days, and one month of thirty-ono days. Under this arrangement each year would begin on tho samo day of tlio week, Christmas Day would also fall on the same day of tho week, and finally Easter would be a fixed instead of a movable feast.
