PATHETIC SCENES.
SEARCH FOR SURVIVORS ORDERED. IDENTITY OF PASSENGERS. (Ree. Alarch 29, 0.50 a.m.) Brisbane, March 28. Throughout the day crowds of relatives of those on board the Yongala besieged the Adelaide Shipping Company's office and tho newspaper offices awaiting tidings of the vessel's fate. When tho news of the finding of wreckage wfls posted there were some pathetic scenes. Several search steamers are out, and a careful examination of tho reefs and islauds in tho vicinity of the supposed wreck for possiblo survivors has been ordered. Tho number of passengers aboard is not definitely known, as it is uncertain how many, if any, landed at Mackay. Thirty-ono were given as in tho second saloon on the vessel's departure from Brisbane, and these probably included at least two of those on the Sydney list. Littlo is known of tho identity of the passengers. Mr. R6oney is head of a Townsville firm of timber merchants. Mrs. Davids is tho wife of the general manager of the Musgravo Sugar Mill. Miss Uhr is matron, and Miss Buxton a nurse at the Townsvillo Hospital. Mr. Stack is the Adelaide Shipping Company's accountant at Townsville.
