MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before Mr. W. G. Riddel], S.M.) EOGUE AND VAGABOND. William Henry Mitchell, charged at tj»2 Magistrate's Court on Saturday with being a rogue and a vagabond, had a number of previous convictions against him. He was sentenced to one year's imprisonment. SENT TO EOTOROA. William Egan, charged with drunkenness, had more than sufficient pi<ovious convictions to warrant his being declared a habitual drunkard. He was ordered to bo sent to the Inebriates' Home at Rotoroa, . and detained there for 12 months. THREATENING BEHAVIOUR. John Smith and James Casey, who had been seen fighting in Manners Street on Friday night, were jointly charged with using threatening behaviour. Smith Shaded guilty, and was fined 305., and asey, who pleaded not guilty, Was fined 205., the Magistrate considering that he might havo received some slight provocation. The' default was seven days' imprisonment for each defendant. INSOBRIETY. Gco. Brookcr and Michael Collins wero fined 10s. ieach for drunkenness," the default being 48 hours' gaol. A firstoffending inebriate, who did not appear, was ordered to forfeit his bail of 10s. Another first offender was fined 55., with the usual alternative, and thilso others were convicted and discharged.
