INDIAN SEDITION.
NEW MEETINGS BILL PASSED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Oopyrfcht (Rec. March 21, 11.25 p.m.) Calcutta, March 21. The Seditious Meetings Bill has been passed by the Indian Legislative Council. The Indian members of the Council deprecated the measure as a piece of permanent legislation, but thanked the Government for remodelling the most objectionable features of the old Bill. The Viceroy, Lord Hardinge, said the Act would only be extended to a district when it was necessary, and he hoped it would remain a dead letter.
