MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL.
' > . Mr. John M'Cale has announced himself as independent candidate . for the vacant seat on the Miramar Borough Council. By profession a mining, mechanical, and civil engineer, Mr. M'Cale. spent ton years in India, where he successfully filled the responsible position of engineer in charge of construction, mines, quarries, and general works for the Assam Railways. Leaving that country on account of his health, he settled in New South Wales, where ho became an alderman of tho Municipal Council of Castlereagh. He has lived in Wellington more than five years, and has interested himself keenly in tho public affairs of the citv and 'Miramar. His. election policy 'includes approval of the reduction of the width of King's Road, postponement of tree-planting in favour' of more urgent works, such as road formation and drainage, and allocation of expenditure as between Miramar and Seatoun in proportion to the amount of rates collected.
