Tho chairman reported that following \ up a resolution of the previous meeting of tho council a deputation representing j the Finance Committee and ".tho Profes- ; sorial Board waited upon the Minister ; for Education with a request that proyi- j sion might be made whereby the financial ■ position of the college- might be further ; strengthened.- The Minister was unable ; to discuss in detail the memorandum previously forwarded by the council for his : consideration, stating.that it would not ; be possible for him to do anything nt present ■ as'any action .he might take J would involve -a: question of policy, hueh questions of course, would require to be ■ deferred until the return of the Prime H Minister to New Zealand. Under the b Land Bill introduced last session, and . withdrawn, provision was made for dealing with national endowments, and when this measure was placed on the htatnte Book it was probable that tho college j revenue- would be considerably augmented It was suggested by the deputation j that those provisions might be made tho j subject of a separate Bill, but the Mm- Z ister did not reply to that point. j Mr Wilson asked what.the college received from its present "valuable endowment," and was informed that it was 1 about £5. j
