Tho new Boys' College buildings arc now rapidly advancing towards completion, and though a certain amount of finishing off will be necessary after tho official opening by the Governor at Easter, matters will ho sufficiently forward by that date to permit of the function being carried out without difficulty. The college will bo ready fey- occupation within a few. days after. The arrangement, of the college in various blocks has been carried out on an admirable plan, while tlib equipment of the college will bo as near perfection as modem building science can make it. It will be hard to find anywhero a better equipped or better designed building than tho school block, while tho domestic block and various house blocks are models of comfort, convenience, and sanitation. Mr. Neville Thornton, a veteran of the Crimean "War (in which he won the French decoration of the Cross of tho Legion of Honour), and later a theatrical scouic artist, has been living in 'Wanganui for several years past. Advancing ago and a paralytic stroke some time ago havo compelled him to give up active work, and ho is now lying almost unable to move and practically destitute. Tho Mayor, in. conjunction with the St. Vincent Do Paul Society, is promoting a fund to send the veteran to Rotoruu for treatment, and to provide him with necessities. An Automobile Association, with H members, was formed at a meeting of motorists last night. Mr. M. A. Jenny, formerly a prominent member of the Canterbury and Auckland Associations, was elected secretary and treasurer, the election of other officers being held over till a further meoling next week. The tramway returns for February show that 111,.'t'tli passengers were carried, compared with 1(10,91)7 for February, 1003.
