Mr. Dcakin, Leader of the Opposition, declares that the people are unable to realise tha extent of the powers they aro asked to grant tho Commonwealth. The proposed amendments to the Constitution overshadow three-fourths o£ the powers possessed'by the States. UNIFICATION BY STEALTH. (Rec. March 10, 0.55 a.m.) Brisbane, March 9. Mr. Denham, tho State Premier, opened the anti-referenda campaign to-night. Ho declared that there was a danger of unification being thrust upon tho people by stealth. An attempt was being made to ontrap them and deprive tho States of local powers. Ho appealed to tho electors not to be brow-beaten or bull-dosed.
