Mr. Albert Cohen, of the Duiiedin I'Stnr," was in Wellington yesterday. He is proceeding to Wanganui, to attend the Racing Commission, of which lie is a member.
Mr. J. C. Mac Lean, formerly of Dunedin, who has been away from New Zealand for several years, returned ycstoiday by the Moeraki. After serving with the Fourth Contingent in South Africa ho went to Chile and Brazil, and look up railway engineering 011 the 'J.'ransAndean Railway, which connects Chile with Argentina.

Mr. J. C. A. Dudley, of the Audit Department, has Leon transferred to Duivfjlin. At the Star Boating Club on Tuesday evening he was presented by the Members with 1. case of pipes and a travelling rug. Mr. A. D. Bayfield, captain of the club, in making the presentation, referred to the good work done 011 the committee by Mr. Dudley, and also to his good record as an oarsman.
Private advices received in Dunediu report the dentil at Alameda, a. suburb r.f San Francisco, of Mr. W. C. Roberts, for many years manager of the Bank 1 Now Zealand here. He was killed in a street car accident.
Mr. Alex. Hinds, of Sydney, who is to be general secretary of the Y.M.C.A. in Wanganui, arrived by the Sydney boat yesterday morning, and will be welcomed at the.Wellington Association this evening. Mr. R. Hill, a Solomon Island planter, arrived from Sydney by the Moeraki yesterday. Ho states that matters regarding the natives are quiet whero he is located (on Ginzo Island). . Copra is being largely exported, and rubber is coming along well.
At the Palace Theatre, Sydney, on Saturday night last, Mr. Hugh Ward, the talented comedian, was presented, with an illuminated address and a gold watch and chain as an appreciation of his recent efforts to aid and honour those connected with the recent drowning disaster at Coogee. Those present on the stage w-ore Mr. D. Storey, M.L.A., Alderman Gilderthorp (Mayor of Randwick), Alderman Campbell, and Jlr. H. Lawton (president of the Tramways Association).
