'•"At tho meeting of tho New Plymouth Harbour Board to-day a striking advarico was made in connection with tHo development of tho ironsand project. A.Christchurch syndicato who had obtained ■ options originally ■ granted to Sir Cadraan, •D. 'Berry, and others,. applied twelvo months ago for an extension of tho leases and undertook to parry out certain development ■ work beforo March 31 this.year, but thejvwere unable to do so. At to-day's •meeting the syndicato applied for a further extension, and deposited £2000 to bo forfeited to tlio board if tho work was , reasonably,, progressing by March 1912, ■ Irie lUoard on these terms grant<Sd tho. Extension. It .is now certain' that a.very' big development' will tako place in the establishment of ironworks at New Plymouth. It is_ understood that; most of tho capital was subscribed in the Dominion.
