"TRUTH'S DOLLS,"
Even in the' doll world there, aro signs of unrest and change, says a writer in an English paper.. A new race of dolls has «is«n.- They appear at present in twos and threes, out they appear. They are made in 'Germany,' ana the high-sound-ing namo of "Natur" dolls is given to tieni. The new race is, so far, of babies. It has a nearer resemblance to human babies than is quite canny—the bland, beautiful, and expressionless calm of a livo babe. When these dolls grow up tbey will be formidable rivals to Iho old type who turned up at the Albert Hall to-day in thousands. Tho children really made the best judges of "Truth's" doll show. OrotviMib'! foon exhaust tho list of adjectives. ■'Charming, sweet, attractive" ring a peal, but the youngsters make no attempt at 1 definitions. They merely drag their willing aunties (it is alwavs "aunties" at tho doll shows) to tho stall which attracts them most, and by them tho prize would bo divided between a wonderful doll's house and "Fairyland," a set piece of dolls all gold and silver and gauze and wands, and butterflies.and fairies. The doll's house had a clock tower and gables, dormer windows, wide shirs, and electric light. Before theso two things there was always a crush. Indeed, it was a little surprising that soino real baby did not get lost and put on to tho stall whilst a dolly was carried away in nurse's arms. A ladies' orchestra played to us, and delightful as it all was—the lights, the music, tho dollies, tho children—one felt that tho real timo to bo at the Albert Hsll just now. would be when the clock strikes midnight. For Puck is amongst th» dolls.
