BISHOP AND CHANCELLOR.

'£ DIFFERENCE OF OPINION, By Teleeraph—Press Association—Couyrieht. (Rec. January 29, 5.5 p.m.) London, January 28. The Bishop of London (Dr. Ingram) disagrees with the position taken up by. the Chancellor of the Diocese (Dr. Tristram) regarding the issue of marriage lioenses. It is possible that the difficulty will reach the Law Courts. A recent cablegram stated the Bishop of London instructed Dr. Tristram that no license for a marriage with a divorced person, or of a person with his deceased wife's sister, was to be issued without the Bishop's personal assent in writing. Dr. Tristram replied that ho was bound to observe the law of, the Kingdom, even i when it was at variance with the Bishop's opinion.
