SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Strong south-easterly, winds havo prevailed, but moderated to-day. Rain has spread over the North Island, hu« the weather has improverd in the south. The barometer is lower in the north, anil though still ;high in the south has shown a slight Call, which hao weakened the gradients. Present indications arc for a liner spell of fair weather, heavy showers following in many parts, and the weather clearing up afterwards for a day or two.
