AQUATIC CARNIVAL.

* WAIRARAPA SWIMMING CLUB. The fourth annual carnival of the \\ ai.rarapa Amateur Swimming. Club was held on Monday, under .circumstances which were in every respect auspicious. Tho weather was delightfully fine, and .the attendance highly satisfactory. The arrangements'' for the meeting . were . l>erfect, and everything passed off without a hitch. lfr. .T. Shields, of. Wellington (Consul for the N.Z.A.S.A.), acted as':referee, whilst Mr. James Pryor, as supervisor, did excellent > work. 1 Tho judgos were as follow:—Diving and life-saving, T. Shields and A. Snowball; swimming, R. P. Crosbie, A. H. Eddy, G. H. Cullen, a A.. Snowball; other events, .J. M. M'Kenzie, A, and E. J'. Rose. Messrs. A. D. Gillies, J. A. H'Ewen, and J. Pryor acted as starters. The check starters were 3lessrs. B. Clay'son, G. Cullen, and E. J. Rose, and the timekeepers, Messrs. T. Shields, J. Bradbury, D. Walsh, and A. Henderson. Mr. J. Arthur was clejk of course.' The secretary (Mr. J. Georgeson) worked hard to ensuro tho success of tho meeting, and .vas well assisted by Mr. J. A. M'Ewen. During the afternoon music was supplied by tho Ruahine Brass Band, and afternoon tea was provided by Miss Pickering.The whole of tho events on the programme were keenly contested, somo of tho finishes beii)g very close.' The fourth annual swimming sports of No. 3 Company Garrison Artillery were held at Shelly Bay this wee'!;, in perfect weather, there being a fair attendance of members.
